Fe210-211

Shredded scrap 210-211

Shredded scrap 210-211 is our flagship steelmaking grade: ferrous scrap that has been shredded and sorted, made up mainly of steel and iron and reduced to small pieces by the process. It is the preferred raw material for steelworks making new steel in electric arc furnaces.

What it is

Definition and industrial context.

The 210-211 designation comes from the international steel scrap grading system. The grade is produced by processing complex ferrous materials (vehicles, household appliances, structures containing contaminants) in our 4,000 hp shredder. The result is a dense, uniform material with a controlled chemical composition.

Industrial process

From incoming material to processed grade.

01

Where the material comes from

Comes from complex ferrous materials: end-of-life vehicles, white goods, obsolete industrial machinery and metal structures containing contaminants. In short, any material that is mainly ferrous and needs its non-metallic components separating out.

02

Industrial processing

Materials are fed into the 4,000 hp shredder, one of the most powerful in Spain. The primary process separates by density, magnetism and hand-picking. The resulting ferrous fraction is graded by size and composition before dispatch.

03

Quality control

Hand-picking after shredding to remove non-ferrous waste and reduce residuals. Chemical composition samples for each lot. Density and particle size checks before lorries are loaded for the steelworks.

Industrial applications

Where it’s used.

/ 01

Steelworks (electric arc furnace)

The main raw material for making new steel. 210-211 is one of the preferred grades for its density and controlled residuals.

/ 02

Grey and ductile iron foundries

Where a specific chemical composition is required, 210-211 serves as the base charge, with little correction needed for residuals.

/ 03

Sections and bar

Construction, structural steelwork and reinforcing bar. Steel made from 210-211 meets standard specifications.

/ 04

Automotive

Mechanical components, chassis and pressed parts. A circular-economy loop using recycled raw material.

FAQs

What people ask us most.

It is the international designation for shredded ferrous scrap. The difference between the two lies in the density of the material: above one tonne per cubic metre it is 211, and below that, 210.

Copper cannot be removed during melting and builds up in the new steel. If the content is high, it affects the mechanical properties of the final product. Steelworks pay more for scrap with a lower copper content because it lets them make higher-grade steels.

It is rated at 4,000 hp, making it one of the largest in Spain. It processes complex ferrous materials, including whole vehicles, white goods and obsolete machinery.

For shredded scrap 210-211, we mainly work on supply contracts with steelworks for committed volumes. For smaller one-off deals, we can handle material in other grades (sheared, low-residual).

210-211 comes from complex materials processed in a shredder, giving small, dense fragments. Sheared scrap comes from heavy structures cut into larger pieces. Both are steelmaking grades, but they suit different steelworks.
