Founded by Brígida Vilalta Casals in Barcelona’s Poblenou district, Alberich has spent more than 125 years closing the metal loop: from waste to raw material, from obsolete installations to projects that recover their value, from end-of-life vehicles to recovered resources.

Environmental commitment
We recover as much value as possible from every fraction that comes into the plant. We reduce the demand for primary mining and close the loop on metal products.

The plant that treats shredder residue (fluff) is upgraded, optimising the separation and recovery of materials.

Radiator plant and new shear in Tarragona
A new plant specialising in recycling aluminium-copper radiators comes into operation.
A new shear is installed at the Tarragona site.

Solar power and more cable capacity
Solar panels are installed at the main yard to drive the energy transition and reduce our carbon footprint.
The cable treatment and recycling plant is expanded, increasing its processing capacity.

New shear and shredding mill
A new shear at the main yard optimises cutting processes and improves production efficiency.
A shredding mill dedicated to processing metals is added.

Recycling is decarbonising
Making metal from scrap avoids extracting and processing primary ore. Every tonne we recover is raw material that doesn’t have to be dug out of a mine.

Less waste to landfill
The finer we separate, the less unrecoverable material is left. That’s why we invest in post-shredder separation: every process improvement reduces what ends up in inert waste landfill.

Our environmental management system is certified and audited: emissions monitoring, management of the water settling tank and traceability of every fraction to its final destination.

Technology and facilities
Our own machinery. We do it ourselves.
Every critical process is carried out with our own technology, machinery and people. That production capacity is what lets us control quality, traceability and lead times.
4,000 hp shredder
One of the most powerful in Spain. Magnetic separation, hand-picking and post-shredder separation with eddy current, induction, X-ray and colour sorting for top-grade 210/211 scrap.
600–1,000 t shears
Cutting force for heavy scrap, plus 300 × 300 mm and 400 × 400 mm balers. We produce cut foundry scrap and low-residual scrap for steel, grey iron and ductile iron foundries.
Cable granulation plant
Quality control on arrival, removal of contaminants, chopping and density separation. Spectrographic analysis of the copper is part of the production process.
Automated WEEE line
Traceability from the paperwork to the final fraction. Eddy current, magnetic induction, near-infrared, X-ray and colour sorting to maximise recovery.
