Cu2 graded products

Copper

Copper is one of the oldest metals known to humanity and the electrical conductor par excellence. It loses none of its properties when recycled: it can be reused indefinitely while keeping its conductivity and chemical quality.

What we buy

Sources and intake criteria.

We process copper in every form: electrical cable, tube, industrial offcuts, electronic components and bar. Electrical cable is our main source, processed at our own cable granulation plant with spectrographic analysis.

Intake process
Weighbridge, inspection and primary sorting
Acceptance criteria
  • 01
    Radiation monitoring
Inbound and outbound, with sensors calibrated to local background radiation.
  • 02
    Trade-approved weighing
Certified weighbridge, with a gross/tare/net ticket for every transaction.
  • 03
    Visual inspection
The material is inspected before it is assigned to a lot and graded.
  • 04
    EWC code assignment
The right EWC code (European List of Waste) for the type and origin of the waste.

Copper recovered from cable at our own plant

Copper granules

Granules from recycling electrical cable at our own plant. After manual pre-sorting, chopping and density separation from the plastic, we carry out spectrographic analysis of the copper as part of production and store each grade separately.

Input

Copper electrical cable of different yields

Processed grade

Graded granules with spectrographic analysis of the copper

Industrial applications
  • Wire-drawing mills making new cable
  • Copper refineries (depending on grade)
  • Specialist electrical industry

Copper sorted by commercial grade

No. 1 and No. 2 copper

Under this heading we group all our commercial copper: No. 1 copper (CU1), No. 2 copper (CU2), busbar, catenary wire and tube. It is graded before being sold to refineries or wire-drawing mills.

Input

Busbar, catenary wire, tube, copper offcuts

Processed grade

Copper sorted by commercial grade

Industrial applications
  • Copper refineries in Spain and abroad
  • Wire-drawing mills making new cable
  • Electrical and components industry
FAQs

What people ask us.

What is recyclable copper?

Recyclable copper comes from construction waste, electrical cables, pipes, electronic components and coins. The metal is fully recyclable and keeps its usefulness and properties through repeated recycling cycles.

Why does recycling copper matter?

Recycling copper is key to conserving natural resources and reducing environmental impact. Processing recycled copper uses up to 85–90% less energy than mining and refining new copper, which cuts greenhouse gas emissions.

How is copper recycled?

Copper is recycled by collecting copper scrap, sorting it and putting it through a series of processes, including melting and refining to remove impurities. The recycled copper is melted and purified, then cast into new shapes for industrial use.

What products can be made from recycled copper?

Electrical cables and wire, pipes, plumbing fittings, vehicle components and alloys such as brass and bronze. It is also widely used to make new electronic products and in architecture.
