AFrancisco Alberich, S.A. · Since 1900

Five generations
recycling metal.

Ever since Brígida Vilalta Casals began recovering materials in Barcelona’s Poblenou district in 1900, Alberich has been part of the country’s industrialisation: recovering resources, innovating in its processes and closing the metal loop.

Timeline · 125 years

From a family workshop to an industry benchmark.

Alberich’s story is the industrial history of recycling in Spain: technological milestones, expansions, family members joining the business and certifications that have gradually built a model that is unique in the sector.

    Upgraded fluff plant

The plant that treats shredder residue (fluff) is upgraded, optimising the separation and recovery of materials.

  2. 2026Key milestone

Radiator plant and new shear in Tarragona

A new plant specialising in recycling aluminium-copper radiators comes into operation.

A new shear is installed at the Tarragona site.

  3. 2025

Solar power and more cable capacity

Solar panels are installed at the main yard to drive the energy transition and reduce our carbon footprint.

The cable treatment and recycling plant is expanded, increasing its processing capacity.

  4. 2024

    New shear and shredding mill

A new shear at the main yard optimises cutting processes and improves production efficiency.

A shredding mill dedicated to processing metals is added.

  5. 2023

    A fleet of 25 lorries

The fleet is expanded and modernised with 3 tractor units and 1 trailer, bringing it to 25 lorries.

Mission, vision and values

What defines us.

Mission

To reclaim as many metal resources as possible, recover their value and return them to the production cycle, with an end-to-end service that reduces the environmental footprint and supports the circular economy.

Vision

To be industry’s partner of choice in the Iberian Peninsula for high-value-added metal recycling, leading the way in technology, traceability and sustainability.

Our commitment
An industrial partner for metal recycling
/ 01

Sustainability and the circular economy

We reclaim as many metal resources as possible, recover their value and return them to the production cycle with the smallest possible environmental footprint.

/ 02

Innovation and technology

We invest continuously in R&D and innovation: 4,000 hp shredding, eddy current and X-ray separation, spectrographic analysis and ERP integration.

/ 03

Safety and compliance

ISO 45001 in place, a Zero Accidents culture on site, radiation protocols and strict compliance with all environmental regulations.

/ 04

Transparency and traceability

Flawless paperwork for producer compliance schemes (known in Spain as SCRAPs), the Ministry and the Catalan Waste Agency’s SDR system. Every waste stream traced from the producer to its final destination.

/ 05

Customer focus

In our model, the customer and the supplier are one and the same. We look after every relationship, because without raw material there’s no recycling.

/ 06

Social and local commitment

Stable jobs, pay in the upper band of the metal industry agreement, ongoing training and roots in Catalonia going back five generations.

Our people · 170+ staff

Permanent contracts, ongoing training and upper-band pay.

Our success over 125 years has only been possible thanks to the talent in our team. We offer stability, professional development and pay in the upper band of the metal industry collective agreement.

We invest in technical training plans, internal promotion (more than 30% of technical posts are filled from within) and R&D and innovation projects that keep the group’s industrial culture alive.
