Dismantling of two 25-metre-high RTG (rubber-tyred gantry) port cranes at a commercial port in full operation. The main challenge was coordinating the work without affecting day-to-day port operations.

We worked in coordination with the port authority, marking out safety zones and operating in time windows that fitted around port activity. The cranes were dismantled in sections with an auxiliary crane and oxy-fuel cutting. All the structural steel was recovered.

Project challenges

1A commercial port in full operation
2Two cranes, each 25 metres high
3A maximum of 10 days for both units
4Strict port safety restrictions
