Complete dismantling of a 30-metre-high industrial storage tank with a capacity of 1,410 m³ at a chemical plant. The project called for exhaustive planning because it was close to live installations and there were chemical residues inside.

We used a heavy-duty mobile crane to dismantle the tank in sections from the top down. Once the tank had been decontaminated, it was cut with oxy-fuel cutting equipment and removed in controlled sections. All the metallic material was sorted and transported to our recycling plant.

Project challenges

1Close to installations in live production
2Chemical residues inside the tank
3A height of 30 metres that required special equipment
4The need to recover 100% of the metallic material
